Why convert a document to PDF?

A PDF renders the same everywhere. A DOCX depends on the fonts, the page setup and the Word version on the machine that opens it, so a document that looked right when you sent it can reflow on someone else's screen - a CV pushed onto two pages, a table that no longer lines up. PDF freezes the layout.

It is also the format most institutions expect. Job applications, invoices, contracts, university submissions and government forms usually specify PDF, often because their own systems cannot read DOCX reliably.

For spreadsheets, converting XLSX to PDF is how you share figures that are meant to be read rather than edited. The recipient sees exactly the rows and formatting you intended, with no risk of a stray edit changing a formula.

What carries over and what does not

Text, fonts, images, tables, page breaks and layout all carry over faithfully. What does not is anything interactive: formulas in a spreadsheet become their displayed values, and macros do not survive at all.

For a wide spreadsheet, check the print area before converting. A PDF has fixed page dimensions, so columns that run past the page width will wrap onto separate pages. Setting the print area or the scaling in Excel first gives a far tidier result than converting and hoping.

What happens to your files

Upload the DOCX or XLSX, and download the PDF. No account, no watermark on the output, and no cap on the number of documents you convert.

Frequently asked questions

Will my formatting change when converting DOCX to PDF?
Text, fonts, images, tables and page breaks are preserved. The PDF is usually closer to what you intended than the DOCX was, because a PDF renders identically everywhere while a DOCX depends on the fonts and Word version installed on the reader's machine.
Can I convert a PDF back to Word?
Not with this tool - it converts DOCX and XLSX to PDF, not the other way around. Converting back is inherently lossy in any tool, because a PDF stores positioned text rather than the paragraph and style structure Word needs, so complex layouts rarely survive the round trip.
What happens to formulas when I convert XLSX to PDF?
Formulas are replaced by the values they currently display. A PDF is a fixed document, so it records the result of each calculation rather than the calculation itself. Keep the XLSX if you need the formulas to stay live.
Is there a limit on file size or number of conversions?
There is no cap on how many documents you convert, no account is required, and no watermark is added to the PDF.
